BK Bio Gum is a modified biopolysaccharide made by blending several microbial gums. Its distinguishing behaviour is at low shear: viscosity is high and stable, which is the condition that actually keeps solids in suspension, while the product still flows properly under high shear. Manufacturer data show suspending power up to 100 times that of xanthan or welan gum under static or low-shear conditions, and suspending performance that is largely unaffected when temperature rises from 25 °C to 60 °C. It is supplied as a thickener and suspending agent for drilling and workover fluids, and is also used in construction materials and daily-chemical formulations. The grade is selected against your fluid system, temperature and salinity, and the product code is confirmed at that point.
Applications
- Drilling and workover fluids as a thickener and suspending agent
- Brine and high-salinity fluid systems
- Suspension of solids in construction materials and coatings
- Thickening and suspending systems in skin care and daily-chemical formulations
